New Build, Cowlinge Road, Kirtling

Our clients approached us with a planning consent for a new build barn style dwelling on a site outside the development envelope of Kirtling, Suffolk.

We were commissioned to design a larger dwelling than the one approved. The clients preference of design was the symmetry of a Georgian style property, however the final design is of a Suffolk vernacular to reflect the rural position of the site.

The double gable frontage, jettied first floors and local palette of materials combined with the changes in roof levels give the proposal a sense of character to suit the location. The internal layout has also been designed to satisfy the clients preference of symmetry with a central hallway and feature staircase with reception rooms accessed from the central hall.
